Her Story

Liberation Found was started with the central question – how do we heal and what can we learn from the people who have recovered? Not by our well studied biological processes of cell turnover, but from the momentous events that take place in our lives, shape who we grow up to become and go on to influence the way our nervous system is formed and the conditions we present with. Why do some methodologies work for some people and not for others, and what are the qualities of healing we all share?

Jessica qualified as a Physiotherapist from St George’s University Teaching Hospital, London and began work immediately in the specialities of Musculoskeletal, Trauma and Orthopaedics and Post Operative Oncology. For some time she worked heavily with professional dancers and arthritis sufferers, but always had a burning curiosity about the people whose pain did not improve. The cases that went to pain management, were given a lot of medications and returned to the world.

When Jessica discovered the works of Gabor Maté and Bessel van der Kolk (When the Body Says No and The Body Keeps the Score, respectively) she knew answers for her clients was shared in that knowledge. She undertook additional training with SIRPA UK (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioner’s Association) and for the first time saw examples of chronic pain resolution, not just management. She integrated these life changing systems into her clinic and started to see incredible results.

In January 2023 Liberation Found was launched to share global pain resolution strategies and to ask what do the people who heal have in common?

Videographer and Editor

His Story

From an early age Richard has been fortunate to live and work in often remote and challenging regions, gaining a vast and open understanding to the rich cultures and traditions of the world. He has a background in Conservation, Diving and Project Management, most notably as a ‘Look and Feel’ Manager of London 2012 Olympics. He became aware of experiencing Chronic Tinnitus during this time and has sought many treatments to help.

He is an Old Student of Vipassana meditation and a practitioner of Yin Yoga, which are integral paths towards improving his quality of life and his Tinnitus. He can report that it has helped him tremendously in both.

We would not be able to function without Richard’s ability to organise our lives while we are travelling around the world and starting spontaneous interactions with so many people.

This is Richard’s first introduction to the world of videography and editing, both of which he has learnt from scratch to help bring the project to life.

“Liberation Found was started with the central question: how do we heal?“

Liberation found is Jessica and Richard Friedberger. Two people exploring global healing stories from chronic conditions. They are currently in India, Nepal and Bangladesh meeting those with a story to tell. At the bottom of the page you can find a ‘contact us’ button which will send us an email

If you wish to get in touch with a participant from one of our case studies, please get in touch with us and we can reach out to the participant for their consent.

We are compiling case studies from people who have had chronic pain and other chronic conditions. These conditions have some relation to the central nervous system, and the participants have now found resolution or significant, lasting improvement from their symptoms.

This research is fundamental to all of our understanding of chronic pain and persistent conditions that often don’t have biological markers. The global community has many methodologies that could be key to finding solutions to different types of people. When I first discovered that people could recover from chronic pain, it felt nothing short of miraculous, I hope this can interest people suffering from these conditions that there is a way out.

Liberation Found is currently entirely self funded. We have rented out our flat to afford to travel and build our website. Should any funding be obtained, these disclosures will be displayed clearly.

Through word of mouth, our social media channels, serendipity and talking to strangers.
